Street Fighter | Black Potion | Toplining

Once again I had the joy of working with Marco Angioni for another Street Fighter song.

Voiced by Stefan Jensen of Exelerate, this sweet, deep and dark ballad calls forth the energy of what the lyrics are about – a mysterious black potion, addictive and powerful.

So bitter, yet the sweetest I ever had…

Any ranunchy 80’s biker hero, have had an encounter with magic substances that will enhance their perception of life. In the neon city of Street Fighter, life is not much different.

Despite the warnings of his friends, he visited one of the small shops at the end of a narrow alley, making his way through scattered papers and machine parts.
Captivated by the blue lights reflecting off her eyes, he received the cup of a strong, warm, scented liquid by the woman in the blue bomber jacket.
As it touched his lips, he was forever changed.

He still doesn’t believe in magic, but this drink comes very damn close – almost like a spell, he is compulsively drawn to seek it out again and again, savoring its bitter darkness every time he feels it in his blood. His days seem to drag on without this drink, the only meaning
comes from the little pricks of lightning.
His widest smile shines when he receives the Black Potion.
Yet, the woman in the blue bomber jacket never smiles back…

(The song is actually about coffee because it was funny to write a very serious rock ballad about coffee. Enjoy some creative writing for the Street Fighter Universe while I’m trying to bring meaning into the story. It’s just about coffee, there’s really not much to it.)
